Pyridoxal-5-phosphate (PLP or P-5-P) is considered the most metabolically active coenzyme and supplement of vitamin B6, and the most bioavailable form of this vitamin. This is due to the fact that P-5-P does not require prior activation by the liver to become functional, as is usual with pyridoxine, but is ready to perform its duties immediately following ingestion. P-5-P’s bioavailability is enhanced when taken sublingually, which permits the active agent to enter the bloodstream faster.
